Mick Wolford, Drums & Vocals: Mick began playing drums when he was 11. He was active in his high school marching band, jazz band, concert band and state concert band. His high school percussion section won numerous awards including best percussion at state and tri-state contests and over 30 superior awards at solo and ensemble contests. His first rock band performed at a talent show when he was a junior in High School. The type of music he played spanned many genres including 50's, Elvis, polka, concert band, country, gospel, variety, rock and hard rock. He was even an orchestra drummer for theater productions.
Mick formed the original 3-Wheel Drive in the early 80's. The band was popular for its wide variety of musical styles and rich 3-part harmonies. He often played five nights per week at hotel chains, colleges, high schools, nightclubs and large rock venues. The band has continued throughout the years with personnel changes until this current ‘reincarnation,’ which is enjoying unprecedented success.
Through the years there have been periods of time when Mick played less frequently in public. Mick would like to take this opportunity to thank Ely and Mike for rescuing him from weekend nights of relaxing in the comfort of his home while eating popcorn, watching movies and getting ample amounts of sleep. Now he spends his weekends in smoky nightclubs, playing until his wrists hurt, singing until his throat is sore, carrying heavy equipment in the rain, driving a noisy van long distances and getting home in the wee hours of the morning - and all that for only gas money. Honestly, he's having the time of his life! He says, “Thanks guys!” He doesn't know what he'd do without you!
